About the Tutor: Robert Tisserand

Robert Tisserand is an international speaker, educator and consultant on the science and benefits of essential oils and their safe and effective application. Instrumental in bringing widespread professional and public recognition to aromatherapy, he wrote one of the first books to bring awareness to aromatherapy in 1977: The Art of Aromatherapy.

Robert has 40 years of experience in essential oil blending and aromatherapy product development including creating “functional fragrances” for products that combine perfumery principles with the therapeutic, hygienic, and dermatological properties of essential oils. He is familiar with the foundations of oriental medicine, and Western herbal and naturopathic traditions, with their emphasis on cleansing, protecting, strengthening immune function and aiding natural healing processes.

Safety has been a passion of Robert’s for more than 30 years. When he first engaged with aromatherapy in the late 1960s there was virtually no awareness of safety issues, but for good reason – very little research had been carried out at that point. After safety research started to appear in the 1970s, Robert felt a responsibility to disseminate this information to the aromatherapy community and in 1985 self-published a small book: The Essential Oil Safety Data Manual.

In 1995, Robert co-authored Essential Oil Safety, a much more in-depth work. The vastly expanded second edition of this book was published in 2014, which took and Robert and his co-author Dr Rodney Young 12 years to write. During this period, they read and reviewed a massive amount of research. The book has sold over 12,000 copies to date.

Robert has become the definitive authority on essential oil safety – with 4000 research papers read and debated and his book being used by product formulators and aromatherapists all over the world. Robert has participated in several court cases as an expert witness, and he has consulted with some large corporations to help them assess the safety of their essential oil-based products. He developed the KidSafe line with Plant Therapy, following some quite rigorous safety demands. The vast majority of safety guidelines, whether presented by suppliers, aromatherapy schools or blogs, derive from Robert’s work.

If you’re interested in an in-depth study of essential oils and essential oil safety, why not come to the source?

What previous students say about the Essential Oil Safety Masterclass:

After working with essential oils for 32 years I’m fairly confident in my knowledge, but I have learned quite a bit from this class. Very impressed and grateful to Robert and Hana & Co. for all your work!

Dana Gass

Thank you for such a wonderful and informative class! I have learned an abundance of wonderful information to not only help me to help others, but also to be able share my newly attained knowledge to help others better understand EO safety. I’m hoping for more of these in the future as I expand my knowledge of Aromatherapy! Thank you again! Blessings to all!

Lisa Macy

I wanted to thank you so much for this class! It was wonderfully organized and I looked forward to it every week. I really appreciate all your efforts to bring essential oil safety awareness to everyone. I am constantly referring to your book in my store and recommend it to all of my students. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am really looking forward to future classes!

Natalie Hajdu-Voakes

I had taken the Safety Masterclass and wanted to thank you and Robert for all the information and material that you put together for us. This kind of functional information is very helpful and makes the journey into the fragrant world of essential oils coherent and easier to navigate. Thank you for all your efforts.

Anshika Goel

I want to thank you and Robert for all the effort that went into putting this invaluable webinar together.  For years, I have had inaccurate or incorrect information about essential oil safety, having relied on the information I found in aromatherapy reference books, various sites on the Internet and large essential oil companies.  I am so happy I finally have a greater depth of understanding about what I have discovered to be a quite complex subject. Apart from the content of the webinar, the logistics and online resources for the class were very well organized and easy to use.  I plan on taking additional classes in the future.

Lorraine Wolfangel-Hall

Dear Hana, Robert and Team,

I thoroughly enjoyed this course! I had many conflicts in my schedule but you and your team set everything up to be as easily accessed by computer as possible. Hearing the Q&A as well as the print outs was also a real bonus. I learned many new things I was unfamiliar with and those are the real value!!

Thanks and again and many blessings to you all.

FAQ

Each lesson will take place Thursday at 11am PDT, starting June 6. Each will be recorded and posted the next day for you to rewatch.

Not a problem. Each live webinar lesson will be recorded so you can watch it later, and you will be able to ask questions through our learning portal. The recordings will be available to you for the remainder of the course, plus an extra four weeks after the last lesson.

Yes. Each lesson comes with printable handouts of the slides used in the lesson, and additional lesson notes. These are sent to you before each lesson and are for you to keep and refer to at any time.

Yes, you will. Many of our students have commented that our courses helped them grasp what they learned elsewhere in more detail, or complemented their previous education. Some of our students are lifelong learners, and some are teachers.

We will let one of our previous students answer this one:

“The information presented is appropriate for all levels, and although I am just beginning my aromatherapy journey it all makes sense.”

Each weekly lesson is followed by a multiple choice quiz, and there is a summary test at the end of each of the two courses. Passing both the weekly quizzes and the final tests is a requirement for certification.

There will be an allocated time for your questions at the end of each live session.

Absolutely! In addition to the live Q&A sessions, you can post your questions in the dedicated student forums.

They are kind of both. The weekly lessons are all live, but each session is be recorded so if you cannot attend at the time you will be able to view it later.

You will have access to all the recordings and course materials for four weeks weeks after the last lesson, so up to the end of July 2019.

Because we have students from all over the world and of many professions we are not able to offer credits for specific organizations – there are simply too many. However, we issue a confirmation of CE hours gained on the course that you can apply with your professional organization and will be happy to assist with any additional documentation.

We have found that running classes on specific dates works best to help you finish a program. You join a class of students, and learn along with them. Many students help each other with queries, and of course our tutors are there too. That said, if you miss a few classes you should be still able to comfortably jump right back in and if you do fall behind you can request extra time. Of course this cannot be indefinite, but we do our best to help you get your certificate.
