Essential Oil Synergy
A NEW single class with Robert Tisserand
Synergy - what is it and why it's important to understand
During this approximately 60 minutes lecture, Robert Tisserand showcases the reasoning and evidence for synergy, as well as explaining the different types of interactions between elements (synergy, additivity, antagonism). You will learn about synergy between essential oil constituents, between essential oils, and between essential oils and other modalities, such as massage. You will leave the lesson equipped with unique knowledge and a deeper understanding of these interactions, not available anywhere else.
In illustrating synergy, you will see examples of:
Fragrant synergy
Antitumoral synergy
Antioxidant synergy
Antibacterial synergy
Antifungal synergy
Sedative synergy
Synergy between two constituents when one of them has no effect
Synergy in an essential oil being due to minor constituents
Synergy between essential oils and: massage, music, antibiotics
Learning outcomes
You will be able to:
Distinguish between the principal types of synergy
Explain the difference between synergy, antagonism, additivity and indifference
Quantify synergy using one of two methods
Discuss how combinations of essential oils impact the likelihood of synergy
