New Research on essential oils (and mindfulness) for anxiety!
A novel and recently published study from Peru looked at essential oil inhalation compared to, or combined with, mindfulness meditation. All interventions were effective, but the combination of aromatherapy and mindfulness was most effective. The lab-distilled oils used in this study, Satureja brevicalyx and Satureja boliviana, are not commercially produced. Major constituents of both oils include linalool, menthone, geranyl acetate and pulegone, a combination not found in any commonly-used essential oils. Since geraniol, limonene and menthol were all virtually or completely absent, this would be difficult to achieve even by blending oils, but mixing Peppermint, Geranium and Ho wood might come close. Since most essential oils are calming, it’s also possible that almost any oils would produce similar results.
