Andrea Canales: “I opened my eyes to this world where you never stop learning.”

by | General, Personal Profile

The Tisserand Institute is not just its tutors and core team, but also an incredible body of passionate students who come from all over the world. We want to give them the floor to share their stories and their experience with us.

Andrea is Chilean, she lives in Santiago with her husband and 4 children. She discovered aromatherapy 9 years ago due to/thanks to her son Simón. In 2016 she joined a multi-level aromatherapy company to share what she was using with others. There, she began to open her eyes to the world of essential oils and their therapeutic properties as well as their risks, and she wanted to know more about them. She decided to train as an aromatherapist, and at the same time expand her knowledge even further, taking almost all the courses offered by the Tisserand Institute, including Diploma in Aromatic Sciences and Diploma in Aromadermatology. Currently, she continues studying, teaching what she has learned and creating personalized formulations for her family and for those who need it, and plans to open an integrative aromatherapy practice in the near future.

The interview was conducted by Rachel Andorfer. As the video connection wasn’t strong enough for the interview, we bring you a brief clip on video, but you can listen to the whole recording as sound only.

  • Hana Tisserand

Hana is the COO of the Tisserand Institute. She supervises our staff of seven, manages our teaching platform, organizes training courses, hosts webinars, commissions blog posts, oversees the creation of infographics and social media content, and writes our newsletters. Somehow, she also finds time to write her own blog posts and she is our go-to IT person. Being raised in a family of doctors and nurses has given her an underlying interest in the workings of the human body, which later manifested in her specialization in medical translation. Hana is a Czech citizen with 7 years of experience in translation and interpreting, her other languages being French and English. Working as an interpreter for politicians, authors, educators and medical professionals has given her a valuable perspective on how to effectively communicate information and avoid dispute. Hana has been working with Robert Tisserand since 2015, and has a unique perspective on how information about essential oils is sourced, processed and communicated.
