About Shannon Becker, PhD

Dr. Becker spent over 14 years in academic research, conducting research at three high ranking universities in North Carolina. She published on the topic of cancer, genetics, and evolution. Dr. Becker is a Registered Aromatherapist™ with an advanced diploma in aromatic medicine. Dr. Becker writes scientific reviews of biological and chemical interactions with essential oils, CO2 extracts, and their chemical constituents, which have been published in AromaCulture Magazine, and by the Tisserand Institute. Dr. Becker is a peer reviewer, and conducts her own aromatic research. Her research into the application of aromatherapeutics for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome symptom management is funded by an AIA grant. Dr. Becker serves on AIA’s research committee, consults for several industry leaders, and for clinical aromatherapists. She possesses a unique skill set, which perfectly represents the movement towards evidence based aromatherapy.
